A collection of news items that have come our way but don’t really warrant an article on their own.
British Cycling have arranged an Inter cluster competition on the Velodrome for Go Ride clubs on 4th November 2012, The Go-Ride Cup.
Rosa Martin from Ribble Valley Juniors has been selected to represent the Amber group in the Lancashire Team.
Several club members have been asking about Bike Maintenance sessions which we promised to pursue as winter approaches…
If you are interested in basic maintenance at (say) the club premises on a Saturday instead of the normal ride (or any other idea) please register your interest with a committee member.
Among several other possibilities, is this British Cycling flyer..location and cost are the unknowns we have queried.
‘If you’re a regular cyclist thinking about improving your bike maintenance knowledge this autumn and winter, we’ve got the perfect courses for you.
Run in conjunction with Pro Tool School, we’ll be offering workshops in a range of locations from November. They’re designed to go beyond the basics and really develop your skills and confidence.
Several Ribble Valley Juniors would be racers remember arriving at Southport last year not quite as well prepared as others… queries have been raised about Winter Spinning Classes, off season Preston Arena sessions and joint parent/guardian/young rider opportunities at Manchester Velodrome.
Spinning Classes previously have not been well supported and have cost the club funds. We are investigating possibilities but need to quantify the level of interest and commitment!
Sessions at Preston Arena in the period before May 2013 are obviously weather susceptible but another possibility. Interested??
Taster sessions are available at Manchester Velodrome for family riders (adults +children) on Friday evenings 5-6pm for limited numbers. Interested?
We are registered with the Velodrome for Track availability/cancellations but the programme is currently full until April 2013. More realistic opportunities will be via NW Cluster sessions-the next will be 25/11/2012 details soon.

Fed up with trying to dodge craters in the road?
Well the CTC have created a website to make reporting them a lot easier. FillThatHole.org.uk/ . Simply click on a map to locate the problem and fill out a short form to describe it and the relevent Highways Authority will be notified. Who knows, if enough people report them some may even get fixed.
- If you are interested in the Blackpool events contact Tom Leivers direct as detailed above.
- If you are interested in pursuing any of the other items above please send comments/commitments/ideas in reply to this email or raise them with any coach or committee member.
