Gisburn Forest Trails – 13/102012

Our next club away ride is this Saturday 13th October and will take place at Gisburn Forest on the purpose built mountain bike trails there.

Consequently there will not be a ride from Walton le Dale CP School on this date.There will be a guided ride on Green and Blue routes suitable for novices and young mountain bike riders from this Car park.

Meet at Cocklet Hill Car Park, Gisburn Forest at 10.30am on Saturday 13th October. See further down for directions.

There is no cost for this ride, but please remember to bring

  • Gloves
  • Spare tube
  • Drink (and food)
  • Suitable clothing for the weather and location.

Directions- take A59 to Clitheroe onto Waddington and Newton to Slaidburn.Contiue right through Slaidburn,over the river and climb for approx 3miles taking a left turn at a crossroads signposted to Gisburn Forest. Cocklet Hill Car Park is signposted about 2/3 mile on the right.

Bad news, the only toilets are at Slaidburn. Good news cafe is also at Slaidburn.

An excellent turnout and we split into two groups with the older riders doing the full Red route.

The less experienced rides stayed mostly to the Blue route as shown on the GPS trace below.
